6 things you didn’t know you could freeze
If you live in a major city, chances are you may live in an apartment with limited fridge space. Given the high cost of food, it often makes a lot of sense to buy food in bulk to save money. Here are some things that can be stored in the fridge/freezer. We recommend investing in freezer bags, because who likes freezer burn?
1. Coconut Milk
Coconut milk, almond milk, or oat milk are excellent, flavorful alternatives to dairy. If you don’t have enough room in your fridge, you can pour your milk into ice trays and use it in smoothies.
2. Grapes
Mushy grapes are terrible. Eliminate the risk of your grapes getting soggy by pulling them apart as soon as you get them home, setting aside the ones you want to eat, throwing away the nasties, and freezing the rest. Use them in refreshing snacks and drinks (**HINT** sangria)
3. Flour
Store flour in the fridge in an airtight container to eliminate the risk of bugs and other infestations. Flour will last indefinitely when stored in the fridge.
4. Avocados
Your can freeze avacados either as in tact halves or as a puree, but you DO need to remove the skin and pit.
5. Bananas
You might know that the key to flavorful banana bread is to let the bananas get fully speckled. If your bananas get to that point though and you aren’t ready to use them, remove them from the peel and put them in a ziplock or freezer-safe bag. Zip the bag part way so air can escape and squish the bananas.
6. Skin care
Did you know you could store your face masks, eye cream, vitamin C skincare products in the fridge?
Notes
Don’t freeze anything with mayo. Keep your cheese wrapped so it doesn’t dry out. Don’t put things that are steaming hot in the fridge, let them sit on the counter and cool off for half an hour
